Man watched me get changed in a changing room, and I feel so ridiculous

This just happened.
I was in a charity shop trying on a body suit, and I didn’t have a bra on underneath. I took off the bodysuit and started getting re-dressed, and once I had my bra back on I noticed in the mirror a face peeping at me through the curtains behind me. A man had pulled the curtain aside a bit to watch me, and even after I caught his eye and froze he didn’t leave. Not until I loudly said “EXCUSE ME?” Did he close the curtain and leave.

I thought maybe he was just checking to see if the changing room was free as he wanted to try something on, but I stuck my head out to see him properly and he wasn’t holding any clothes. He was just there to watch me naked. I felt violated and stupid and so shaken that when I got home I broke down to my partner. I don’t know how long he was watching me because I never saw the curtain move, he must have started when I had the bodysuit over my head trying to get it off.

Now my partner has gone to the police station to report this but I feel so silly, I don’t even know if it’s a crime to do this because when I google it all that comes up is porn about spying on someone in a changing room :(

I feel horrific. Just needed to rant, but any advice is welcome :( is this a common occurrence? And will the police even take me seriously considering even more serious sexual harassment often gets ignored/not taken seriously?
