My sister is having a miscarriage in Texas.

I’m across and the country and trying to be as supportive as I can. She’s only 4 weeks along. She’s married and her husband is taking care of her so she’s not in imminent danger…unless things take a sudden turn. They are actively trying for a baby and she’s convinced that “abortion to save the life of the mother” is still protected in Texas. Which, sure it technically is, but do you want to be bleeding out while lawyers argue about it?

Also, she’s covid positive so she was going to go to her doctor but was turned away and told to go to the ER instead. The ER visit would be $3000 with their high deductible plan. So she’s just doing some HCG labs and waiting it out. She had some scary symptoms a few days ago like pain so bad she puked and a fever but that could be from covid.

What can I do to be supportive? Is there any evidence I can show her after this immediate situation is over to convey how risky it is to be trying to get pregnant in a red state right now?

My heart goes out to anyone who may be in a similar situation now.
