Severe Cramping Two Weeks After IUD Implant

I got a Mirena IUD at the end of last month. At first it seemed okay – hurt a lot going in, but the following day it seemed better. Then I hit my first period with the IUD and the pain has continued since then . I got it implanted because I was already in totally incapacitating pain most months – not able to walk, having to take a lot of meds, etc. But this is worse, I have never known pain like this. It comes in contraction-like waves every couple minutes, on top of a continuous base pain that is already pretty bad. I can barely eat, and I only get about four hours of sleep because it keeps me up at night. Usually it stops for a couple hours in the morning, but pretty soon I’m laying down again, sometimes unable to even talk, sometimes having full body muscle spasms. Luckily I work from home, but it still interferes because the pain is giving me severe brain fog. I just can’t focus on anything else.

I’m also extremely depressed, but it’s hard to say if that’s a symptom or not. I already have a lot of mental health issues, and the cramps are certainly not putting me in a good mood, but I will say that it seems way worse than usual. I’m going for days without feeling happy even once, even when good things happen.

I’ve taken more than the recommended dose of Aleve every day and it has no noticeable effect. Is there anything else I can do? Will this go away? I know the first couple months are the hardest, and I really don’t want to remove it. This is my last effort to fix my cramping, and it’s also crucial protection now that Roe v Wade is gone. But I can’t live like this.
